Biology is complex.
Good science makes it clearer.
We connect laboratory expertise with careful evidence evaluation and data analysis, helping research teams turn scientific questions into practical next steps.
01 / SCIENTIFIC SERVICES
Focused support for researchers, biotechnology teams and organisations exploring mitochondrial biology and related areas.
Critical literature reviews, evidence mapping and accessible scientific explanations to support research planning and evaluate emerging ideas.
Consulting on study design, assay selection and interpretation, drawing on experience in mitochondrial biology, neurodegeneration and cellular imaging.
Project-based support for microscopy and research data, including quantitative image analysis, workflow planning and exploratory analysis.
Every collaboration starts with a conversation about your question, available data and project scope.
02 / RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Our early-stage projects explore how imaging and AI can make biological information more useful. We build around testable questions and transparent evidence.
Exploring quantitative mitochondrial morphology and its relationship to cellular stress, with the aim of developing research tools that can be tested against independent biological measurements.
Current focus: feasibility, datasets and validation design.
Investigating AI-assisted ways to explain health and nutrition research in plain language, linking explanations to their sources and making uncertainty easier to understand.
Current focus: concept development and evidence standards.
These projects are at an early stage. No validated diagnostic tools or consumer health products are currently offered.
03 / ABOUT MITO BRISTOL
Mito Bristol is a research and scientific consulting company founded by Gongyu Shi, PhD, in Bristol, UK.
Our work draws on research experience in mitochondrial biology, Parkinson's disease, immune regulation and age-related macular degeneration, alongside expertise in live-cell and super-resolution microscopy, high-throughput imaging and research data analysis.
We are interested in the space between a promising scientific idea and a useful, well-supported application. Our longer-term ambition is to contribute to mitochondrial health assessment and improvement through rigorous research and technology development.
